I remember him tying it up with baling twine. I guess you would have to do both in and out or it would all be out laugh I haven't thought about that in years.

OT: Been there and done that also. LOL. Amazing how we came up with things to entertain ourselves with in lieu of "toys".

Made toy tractors out of thread spools, rubber bands, crayon and match stick.

Homemade sling shots using tire intertubes and a shoe tongue as a pocket.

Homemade bow and arrows using pieces from a locust tree. Scraped, shaped and smoothed them with a pieces of broken glass. Used to use the sprouts from around old dead wild chestnut trees for arrows. The sprouts were about as straight as today's manufactured arrows. You could lay them on a board and roll them a little with pressure on another board and it would cause the bark to loosen and come right off. No broadhead or hunting point, just sharpen the front end and cut a notch in the back end.

Remember having apple fights using a sharpened stick and stabbing the apple then slinging them at your enemies?

We also had the slingshot fights using chestnut oak acorns...got a black eye one time then a red striped ass shortly thereafter and the acorn fights ended because someone had used a rock!
